Posting this a full week + after arriving in Santa Fe. When I arrived in SF, I went straight to Connie's. Connie had given me the go-ahead, and I was not entirely comfortable heading straight for my brother Robert and Stephen's place. It's on a much narrower street (have sine enn reassured it'll be ok). Additionally, Stephen was out of town, and Robert was commuting to ABQ several times a week. The timing didn't feel particularly good.
I've known Connie for 26 years! She's the sister of my longtime dear friend Victoria, who was my first stop on my road trip (Ft. Davis). Thew first time I met Connie was in the mid 90's when Vicky and me stayed with her in her house in Terrero NM.
I arrived at her lovely home with a little trepidation. Parking an RV in front of someone's house is a big ask. Parking in a person's driveway is even a bigger ask. But Connies could not have been more accommodating, friendly and welcoming. Got the RV all hooked up and took a tour of her place. The most immediate feeling I got about her spacious place was how comforting and homey it felt. It's big by SF standards, nearly 2000 sq. feet. She's made additions, remodeled here and there. It all feels just right.
After shopping for construction supplies at the Home Depot, we took the one hour drive to Terrero where she still has the property where I first me her in 94. I's lovely up there, postcard lovely. We met up with one of her helpers/workers Larry and got to work. We put in about 5-6 hours and got a good heard start on a pretty big ceiling job and a bunch of other stuff. It'll be a big job once it's done.
Most other days have been me doing stuff to get caught up on computer and RV wise. Connie and I always find time to coffee and breakfast together. It's always fun and a great way to begin the day. And one other great please that we share is we both love soccer (futbol)! We have seen several games together and it's been lots of fun. I'll always be grateful to Connie for her generosity (which inclludes food and lots of cookies!) I helped wherever I could and I hope I've been a help around the house. And I know I'll see her again before I leave SF.
Today, Monday August 30th, I'm driving the RV over to Robert and Stephens and dock there for a while.
