8/22
FIVE shorts shot, edited, and uploaded on YT. I think for now I'm done shooting in Albuquerque. I may very well depart for Santa Fe on Sunday, 8/22, but more than likely a little later, on the 25th (Robert's UNM Academic duties begin in earnest and at top speed on Monday. Undue pressure and distraction is the last thing I want to add to his hectic first day of the first semester back. Any more shooting, even if I were to extend a day, would feel rushed. A few extra days, however, could possibly allow me to get another scene in. There is no one left in my casting pool but that has never stopped me before! . And "casting", as I have written about before, is seldom hit, and almost always a miss. I have no deadline so I don't feel pressure to get another scene in. I leave ABQ with 20 minutes worth of scenes. If I can repeat this total three more times throughout my road trip I'll have a feature. Heck, I could even finish up in Austin come January if necessary!
Here are the scenes in no particular order. When I have approximately 20 of theses shorts, I will commence to stringing them together to form what I hope to be a loose narrative. It is a film experiment of sorts. The viewer many times will mentally do the narrative connections all on their own. The famous William S. Burroughs novel, Naked Lunch was written this way, a random narrative. After he was finished, he took a pair of scissors to the pages and randomly cut sections. He then tossed them in the air. Then Bill randomly collected all the cut sections, made a nice stack next to his typewriter, and rewrote the whole thing from the random stack of cut paragraphs. I always loved that story!
"The Drop": Nick and John miscommunicate
"Roswell: A True Story": The Story of a man who will not sell his beloved Bug under any circumstance
"The Square Root of 60: The Meaning Of Life":

Moving Day. I was gonna wait till tomorrow, Wednesday, in keeping with my brother's suggestion. Bobby, as mentioned before, is part of the UNM faculty (he communtes from SF several times a week) and the first few days (school began in earnest Monday) are rather hectic. I will be docking the RV in front of his house in SF. But a friend, the sister of my longtime friend Vicky, Connie communicated to me I could stay in her driveway for a few days so why not. ABQ has been OK but it's time for the move-on. Santa Fe is a totally different scene. ABQ has crime and terrible drivers and some stuffs ok. Santa Fe has Whole Foods, plenty of turquoise jewelry and wealth. Good looking men and women prance about to see what else they can possibly buy, and nose, given the slightest opportunity, are held high. Who knows? I may be turned off by the whole scene and go to Tucson after a week. Or I may transform myself into a poseur and play along and buy one expensive cup of coffee after another accompanied by an overpriced pasty.
Me: "Hi, how are you" (said like I really mean it)
Random other person, "Well, I'm about halfway with my book on the combined power of crystals, hemp oil and re-birthing"
And miracle upon miracle, I will maintain a smile throughout this ENTIRE interaction.
Every town has it's goofballs. No matter what town I land in, I add one more goofball to the equation. I hope to find willing goofball to participate in Wander Lost. Thant's the plan, anyway. Stay tuned dear friends!
